About Simonstone Parish Council

Following the May 2023 elections your parish councillors (in first name alphabetical order) are: Alan Duckworth, Clifton Pollard, David Peat, Greera Norse, Jacqueline Hampson, Maureen Vaughton, Robert McKelvey and Stephen Finn.

All councillors are equal and each has a vote on council matters. In the case of an equal number of votes, the Chair has the casting vote.

David Peat was elected to continue as Chair, with Stephen Finn voted to continue as Vice-Chair.

The council is resolved to working with residents, businesses and landowners to create a strong and collaborative community.

In 2024 the parish council will be consulting with residents and businesses in the parish to identify our shared issues, concerns and areas where we will focus our time and efforts.

The council continues to support a number of local initiatives such as the Read and Simonstone Village Hall, Readstone Environment Group and the provision for Citizen’s Advice Bureau in the Ribble Valley. We also pay 50% of the upkeep costs for the playground in Read beside the cricket club. If you would like to receive support from the parish council please contact our clerk (email below) for guidance on what information is required and next steps.

With support from Lancashire County Council (LCC) via the Lengthsman Scheme we maintain the footpaths in our village, and with help from LCC’s Public Rights of Way scheme we’ve also had stiles updated.

We are currently in the process of updating our website and will be presenting a new look shortly.
